Mike Kraft founded The Field Consulting after 11 years of teaching communication, decision-making, problem solving, and conflict skills toindividuals and teams, mediating workplace disputes, and helping executives lead from a place of intention. During this time, Mike saw companies:
- Spend tens of thousands of dollars on training that no one attempted to integrate into the culture or the business’ strategic plan.
- Ignore interpersonal feuds for months and years – at great cost to morale, productivity, and reputation.
- Have morale suffer when well-intentioned development efforts repeatedly meet with sub-par outcomes.
- Lose credibility when change initiatives are poorly communicated and don’t help employees find meaningful ways to support the change.
The common denominator that Mike observed in organizations is a pervasive unwillingness / inability among employees, including senior leaders, to engage in meaningful dialogue – a free flow of information and ideas. Rather than view this as an indictment of leadership, Mike sees it as the norm in the broader culture and, therefore, as a tremendous opportunity for any leadership team that’s committed to learning how to have conversations differently going forward.
